A Dream Half Lived (Repost)

2019.07.18 A Dream Half Lived (Lyrics & Translation)

Dear friends & strangers,

Here’s my song written last November, updated now with a (nearly) singable English translation. In such a trying time for Hong Kong, I’d like to offer it as a tribute, or a shout-out, to my fellow millennials who are caught in the midst of all these depressing changes, during which, a few of our comrades even gave up their lives most tragically. At times, with our backs to the wall, let us take a deep breath and reach out to one another. Although expressions of freedom are conditioned by political environment, I believe that its spirit is first and foremost a virtue of the heart. Therefore, while we should never lose sight of our vision, neither should we idolise our ideals at the expense of our hope. Stay strong and united, HKers!

It’s been a hectic season. Thank Goodness I finally had the time to sit down at my piano and make a crude demo using nothing but my phone. (Please excuse the noises, the shaky tempo and the unrefined vocal.)

If you like my song and if you/your band are interested in considering potential collaborations with me here in Hong Kong, I’d be more than happy to get in touch with you. Cheers.

Peace,
