To My Dearest Love

You’re the aftertaste of my tea
The sweetness on a bitter day
You’re the smiles that I resort to
For courage in trials and fair play
You’re the sunset gleaming through
Stacks of paperwork on my tray
You’re the joy in my jingling keys
         Keeping tomorrow’s chores at bay
You’re the songs I hum in traffic queues
The bosom where my heart is braced

Colin Lee

Note: Today, dVerse’s Poetics: Wish You Were Here prompted us to write a short and sweet postcard poem no longer than 12 lines.
